Hi,

There have been a few e-mails, so I'll post this now, and we'll get "more official" after the holiday break.

February 7th, the Saturday after the SuperBowl, is the date!

The place is still the Lawrence Junior High gym in Fairfield.

No fee, all welcome who are interested in cane or interested in people who are, or who are just ready to get together and can tolerate cane - grin

Any ideas? Feel free to post or PM!

Hutch and I meet with the kids next week.

Kat

I encourage all here to reserve this day as a social gathering and a chance to touch history...plus see the famous people like Tim_S, Tark and (if you look REAL close/fast- KimL) Hunter.

There isn't much else to do in Febuary...

Hutch

Hi,

Missed the actual meeting with the kids last week due to snow, but will connect with them on t-shirts, scotch ...er, juice... glasses, etc, after school resumes (we're scheduled tomorrow and Tuesday, but it's a bit snowy tonight, so who knows?)

Meanwhile

The hours are a little flexible, but I'd say most people are there between 8am and 2pm.

The kids will have some lunch items (probably pizza and drinks -grin), Matt will have coffee (thanks so much), and breakfast items and snack donations are welcomed.

The gym lobby will be set up as a mini-cafe and video / dvd viewing area with some chairs for those who wish to relax and recover from so many rods to cast, as well as a swap table.

We'll have a few door prizes for attendees at random (if you get three of something for Christmas, we'll gladly accept donations for the door prize table).

More news as it comes in....

Kat

Many of you know what's been happening to me since last year so I won't rehash that mess but I am having surgery on Friday and will be limited to lifting no more than 10 lbs for 2-3 weeks and I have not driven more than 10 miles alone since last June so driving is out of the question. Pete and Jeff have offered to drive me to SuperBoo and if I can make it we will arrive on Friday and stay at the Comfort Inn in Waterville like last year. Please put me down for 3 T's (2 XL and 1 L) if I don't make it perhaps you can bring them when we exchange the Edwards after your trip to Chicago and I'll pay you for them then. Hope to see you there with a smaller representation of Pandora's Box I'm afraid.

Banjo, our good friend, you know we all want what's best for you first, but, selfishly, I'm gonna hope to see you there, rods or no :-)

A "little" Pandora's box? Still will out do my quiver, I'm sure!

I marked down the t-shirts.

Meeting with the t-shirt guy tonight. Looking at the slogan SUPERBOO VI over a hexagonal cane cross section, underwritten with: The other Hex Hatch probably in athletic "ash" gray with dark green (for Maine) letters. Hutch and I will price out an optional long sleeved t and a hooded sweatshirt, too, but the default will be the t-shirt. I'll post the sign-up thread (and a list of the names we already have) soon.

For those not checking the other forum, I'll bring a couple of dozen bagels
for breakfast.
The Other Hex Hatch I like it.

News update:

Charles Wheeler was a longtime bamboo rodmaker in Farmington, and Jeff Knapp is the world's leading Wheeler authority. Even though Wheeler rivaled H. L. Leonard in many ways, he stayed in Maine and much of his history is lost.

Jeff Knapp is nearing completion of the definitive book On Charles Wheeler.

If you have any Wheeler rods, nets, batons (he conducted the town's marching band and at the site that is now Reny's), PLEASE bring them along to SuperBoo. Jeff will be interested in everything, and will be available to "talk Wheeler"!

Hey All-

Kat and I are so happy with the great number of shirt orders- keep 'em coming!

As many know, we were given 3 matched LL Bean Fiberglass rods this fall- a 6'6", a 7'6", and a 8" -all in 6 wt. After some help on a fiberglass site, it appears they were made by Phillipson(?) and are reasonably well respected fishable rods. The two smaller rods are as unfished...

Anyway... we have been beating our heads about what to do with them...

We decided to just put a low reserve and sell them at SuperBoo.

So- if you are at all interested in a fiberglass rod at a bamboo event- bring your check Book!!

Hutch
