The Striper fishing has been good...great if you have a boat but pretty good-very good on the beaches. I am however a trout bum at heart-hence my desire to find cool running water and the fish that live there. I may head to western Me tomorrow and see whats going on. Thanks for the help everyone.

Yup me too, I always said I'd never give up trout fishing to go striper fishing, but this year I have... I haven't caught a trout in 4 or 5 weeks, I've just been focused on the salt this year.

Hit me up if you ever want someone to go with, I'm right next to you in Brunswick.

Good luck and take it easy,

Peter

Interesting...take the McKay's 7900 cfs, add the East Branch Penobby, Millinocket, Nahmahkanta, Salmon and many other streams and you get 5300 cfs at Weldon Station (Mattaseunk) - go figure...me'n Skip Strong fished (wet waded) the main stem of the Penobby last nite in Orono and had a good evening of smallie action, but there were absolutely no stripers to be had...yet...BTW, the mackeral are in pretty good down to MDI now too - Tight Lines!

Interesting. The BDN ran an article today saying stripers are being caught below Milford, some quite sizable. Get after them.

Yeah, I've heard the stories but none of them seem to be spending any time down here in Orono - I'll go out on a limb and predict they'll be in town in 10 - 14 days - on a less happy note, another fish that's turning up in Milford is white catfish...

I see that the number of salmon returning to the Penobscot, and the Downeast rivers, is up.

Everyone is running to the coast while the West Branch drops to 5000. Still too high but coming down rapidly.

I understand and commiserate. Hey, a friend of mine spotted your truck on Slough Creek last fall?? Your son skipping classes?

Looks like things are pretty close to the norm. Cooler temps and water flow and some decent hatches may make the next few days unusually exciting for this time of the year.

East Outlet 2210
West Outlet 197
Brassua 1005
McKay Station 2388

Have an awesome day!

Most likely... he has a tough life. He was at the Lamar and Soda Butte on Friday and floating the Yellowstone on Saturday.

Is there a "new" 800 number for dam flows? I tried my old FPL 800 number and it has been disconnected. I looked on the web for a Brookfield listing, but could find none
