Went out this morning off Freeport. No signs of fish, no birds. Wind was strong and waves bounced around my kayak. Good to be out - but where did they go. Tasted the water - didn't seem very salty. Maybe still too much fresh water around. No signs of bait fish.
Did go out on Sunday in the Royal River. The water is really silty from the torrent that was the fresh water part of the Royal. There too I only saw a couple of signs of bait fish; no signs of the striped ones. Will keep trying.
Anything further south of here?
Chuck

I disagree - I've produced small and big fish off Freeport the last few days. I'm especially happy to have landed a 14 incher on the flats Monday (first sub-16" striper in the last couple of years)

Went out Saturday around 11:00 a.m. to catch the dropping tide. Fished for 3 hours with no luck. Tough on the yak with the wind and waves. Gotta get my whaler in the water to do more exploring. Did see one striper landed; angler said it was on a mackerel chunk.

Steering fixed ($375 - ouch!). Went out yesterday morning -- lots of fish on sand, but couldn't get them to eat. Pretty exciting what we saw though. Tim proved his striper skunk abilities yet once again....
