Giving everyone on this site a heads up to the great fishing we have in Hawaii for some of the worlds greatest fish on the fly rod. Our bones are big and stealthy. The most exciting fishing scenarios I have ever fished and I have travelled around the world looking for great fisheries. From rainbow trout in Slovenia to blue marlin in Costa Rica these bones still make my knees shake when they come into view in 2 ft of water on a turquoise flat.

When it gets cold in Maine I invite you to come to the land of rainbows and test your skills, check out my website www.hawaiibonefishguides.com

This is not a ADD it is an information post to help my fly brethren to find warm climates and big fish.... come and play!!

Capt. Mike

Hey Captain Mike,

If you want me to pay you to put me on over 60 bones in the 5-10 # range everyday to test my skills on your beautiful flats, take the hint and do your "informational posts" here in the form of a paid advertisement.

After fishing for bones in Hawaii (on Oahu) myself, I am very dubious of consistantly seeing that many bones in a day.

The bones that are there, though are BIG! I hooked up on a large bone that broke me off. My "leader" was 60>40>20lb. Maxima and it snapped like 6X. Pretty impressive. The numbers aren't like some other destinations, but the fish are big.

For my own plug I would strongly recommend Ollie Owens (bonefish 808), as he is kind of an OG of flyfishing for bones there. He knows the "flats" well...though they are not your typical white flats. He is a great dude who knows his stuff...and who has taught others (locals) how to do it.

I can't wait to get back there...

General question -- from what I have read, most of the flats fishing for bonefish in Hawaii is found on Oahu. There have to be bonefish flats on some of the other islands; anyone found them on Kauai beaches? I have a timeshare there and would like to catch a bonefish there.

I have some fun reports and some cool info that I sometimes have time to update. Spamming is not my intention but only to inform fellow fisherman to a great winter time fishery.

I just like having a good time fly fishing, sorry you dont feel the same way

SPAM is not my deal, fly fishing is my deal

your site will loose in the long run and I am sure there will be some fun threads with posts that I will make in the future on this great sport

up to you, as I do like this site and would saddened to be booted?!

we love having a good time

we are also a non-profit organization dedicated to giving back to maine's fisherman and her fisheries....and part of what helps us on that mission is our ad revenue and generous donations from those who share in our mission....these are the folks who's banners you see on this site

for information on how you can help us in our mission, feel free to contact ken beaulieu at kbeaulieu@flyfishinginmaine.org
