Hey everyone, I'm new to fly fishing and don't have any flies or fly boxes yet. I'm on an EXTREMELY tight budget, so I thought I'd post on here to see if anyone would like to sell any of their old beat up, used flies or fly boxes... I'm really in a bind and obviously can't go fishing til I get the rest of my gear, so PM me and lets get something set up!!! THanks!

I know you said tight budget so this may be out but I've found that the grand old Wally world has some fly boxes made by plano for less than $10 that work pretty well.

The other side of things is I've made fly boxes out of just about everything. If you have a piece of foam and a small tin or plastic box you can stuff the foam in and wham-o you have created a fly box. I would love to use solely wheatley fly boxes but that's just not practical on most peoples budgets. I had a fly box for a while made out of a Grizzly chew "commemerative" tin (3" x 5") with a piece of packing foam in it. Worked great and fit in the front pocket of my vest.

One gentleman I fish with only uses boxes in his house, before he goes out he fills up film canisters with the flies he wants to fish and labels them. I will add he owns many wheatley boxes and fishes strictly bamboo rods, he can afford the new boxes but doesn't like their bulk. Half a dozen ways to skin that cat.

Hello again! I just wanted to bump my thread because I'm coming back to Maine this summer and I should hopefully have a lot more time to actually fish this summer :-) I'm still in a rough spot financially due to past medical bills and would like to buy anyones old, used, beat up, ugly flies they may have sitting around and would like to get rid of... PM me if you would like to clear out your boxes!!

Thanks!

Send me a pm before you arrive in Maine and I'll hook you up with a few flies to try.
