With our mild winter, in a way it makes the wait harder. By that I mean that the weather feels more like late March and thus the stripers are closer to arrival - when in fact we know old man winter will hold them off for a while. In the interim I find other things to do - including finally getting in some fly tying. It was fun to get together with Tark and a few other fishing buddies the other day to tie. I didn't do any salt (and I don't think anyone else did either), but I will be doing some soon.
But, I want to get some activity on FFIM's salt forum to drum up some interest here. I do monitor the other Maine site; it's more active than this one and that's what I'd like to change. I love the way that FFIM staff give back to the sport - registered as a 503c, always helping out with Casting for Recovery and CCA - and a bunch of other great causes. For that, I want to do what I can to help FFIM achieve that goal.
So, I'll post from time to time on this forum to create some interest - and hopefully enough others will contribute that it will 'catch'.
Dan, I tip my hat to you and the crew for all that you do for our sport.
Until later....
p.s. Let's call it 80 days until someone posts on this forum with the first striper of the year...and hope that it might even be less!
