Managed to land my first striper on a fly Thursday morning...have caught bigger on conventional gear but none felt as good as this one. Finally saw some backing! Took a sand eel imitation on the outgoing tide around 5:30 am:

About an hour later, and right off the beach, I landed my first Flounder on a fly, which took a shrimp imitation slowly bounced along bottom with a full sinking line. A pretty fish and one of my favorite meals, flounder on the end of the line...well, they flounder. Hardly a fight at all. Cool fish, though:

Followed that one up with another of similar size.
Thought I had bagged my second striper on the fly around 5 am this morning, having hooked and battled a strong one in the same spot as the morning prior, on the same sand eel imitation, only to have the hook pop free with the fish not more than 20 feet away after regaining most of my line.
I like the salt 8)

Nice work, congrats on your firsts! I've found the salt to be a bit on/off the last couple of weeks. But much more on the off the last two time out for me, including some nice falling tide blitzes...fun top water action!
