Just wondering if anyone has recently spotted any fish in the greater Freeport area. I have been trying to get out for weeks but there never seems to be enough time. I live in Freeport and finding fish locally should help me to find the time to get out. I do have a kayak so I can be fairly mobile. If anyone could provide any hints on the prefered tides, specific flies beyond Clousers and Decievers or even places to launch from, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance for any help.

I haven't fished in Freeport for a while - even though I'm from there. That's because the water's been too warm. Most of the water along Freeport is pretty shallow - unless you get outside the inner islands. It can be done with a kayak, but it's a LOT of paddling. I know because I've done it.

Launching is a crapshot - most areas are mudflats at low tide. Yarmouth boat launch is the exception - although you'll pay (too much) for that privilege (even for kayaks). Perhaps as the temperature inches downward the fish will show in Freeport again.

You might want to try fishing just off "Pound of Tea" - when the tide is going out - sets up a nice crease - and fish can congregate there. But do be careful of the current - it's strong.

Thanks so much for the tips. So where would be a decent place to look for some fish if I am willing to travel a bit... I am very interested in finding fish in the kayak as I have caught a few in it in years past and just love battling fish in such a small craft.
