This was a first for me yesterday. In an effort to keep the streak alive (March of 2018 to November of 2019 right now), I hit my usually productive December spot yesterday. Air temp was 22 according to my car with a little breeze. Fair bit of slush in the water ( though it was low or the pool has filled in since the spring). I was using my Czech rod with the rio euro-nymph leader. The sighter and the tippet were actually building ice, under water. I rarely take a temp, but had my thermometer on me- 32 on the button... I have had guides freeze and line get coated with ice, but I never had the leader and tippet ice up underwater. No wonder my feet were cold. And no trout were harmed in this new experience.
