Post subject:  For those that use 2-handed rods - a most helpful video

Using the top hand for power instead of as a fulcrum is the most common mistake I see when watching people cast 2-handed rods. I know using the lower hand for power was (continues when I get tired) the hardest thing for me to build into my casting stroke.

Thanks for posting this. For me, I like the way he described it better than others I have watched. I think it may also be helpful that he's in a casting pond versus a river where my mind thinks too much about the conditions others are casting in.

Braggsbay, You're welcome. I found that the bottom hand is a big key to rolling your leader out instead of it crashing in a pile out there.

Great video Mike. I need more instruction on my spey casting, but I'm a far cry from the nightmare of 2006 at Solon. That subtle move with the bottom hand along with the extension of the rod makes a huge difference. Of course, cheating with Skagit heads help too.... :mrgreen:
