All.....

For me to empty 5he gear out of the Jeep. Every year there starts the fishing year, usually sometime in late February or early March, where I take the fishing gear out of storage and out it into the rear compartment of the Jeep, where it stays until I “ give up the ghost”, so to speak, and empty it out for the year.

That’s usually......how, at least.....Mid to late November. When I lived in southern Maine I fished the Aquarium until January, or even February in mild winter years, but with nothing up here even remotely like the Aquarium, now is it. Always a sad day to realize another fishing year has come and gone.

My tying bench is a mess........so number one on the list next week is to tidy up the tying room, and get it organized. A clean tying bench usually lasts about ten minutes, but hey, gotta start somewhere. My Nymph box is looking a little peaked by now. Time to get those rows filled back up.

Every year there's a day when you feel the change from fall to winter - today certainly had that feel to it...…..

I keep dreaming of one more day on the water... but I think I have fully shifted to duck hunting. Most of my fishing stuff is put away and my Jeep has been full of decoys and camo netting for the last couple weeks. I may try to squeeze a few hours in on a Sunday, but I have a list a mile long to get done around the house before things freeze up.

And Craig is absolutely right about today feeling like winter..

Wow Dave that sounds a little gloomy - there are several streams within a pleasant drive of your home which offer up opportunities for the next month or so - winters are long enough, maybe the Jeep should remain equipped for a bit longer, no?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m certainly game for another day of olives in Gilead, or nymphing the Mousam, heck - I saw birds working about 300 yards off of Wells this morning. Tough part is days are short and ski season is hopefully off to a good start. It’s all good - not enough hours in the day!

Good luck tg - let us know how you make out!
