L L Bean has posted the schedule for a 16 week series of Fly Tying Instruction Classes running every Thursday evening at 7:00 pm (except Thanksgiving). We’ll start on November 14th and run thru March 3rd at our Classroom on the second floor in the Fly Fishing Section at our Flagship Store in Freeport.

These classes are designed to help the new tier get going in fly tying and give the experienced tier opportunities to get better .

They start with simple easy to tie patterns and expand to more complex flies as the classes progress. The series includes Trout Flies, Bass Bugs and SW Striper Flies. L L Bean will provide the tools and materials for these FREE Classes

You do need to register in advance and to Insure quality instruction, class size is limited. However, L L Bean recognizes that interest in Fly Tying Instruction is keen and is offering gallery seating and an opportunity to sit in when registration for a particular class is full. Experienced Tier support, net working, and connection is encouraged.

Featured Guest Tiers and LL Bean Instruction staff include: Emily Bastian, Steve Brann, Wendy Furey, Don Hodgson, Dave Jacobson, Evelyn King, Louis Lortie, Rod McGarry, Todd Molloy, Dave Sawtelle, Jim Stone and Zach Whitener.

You can register by going to the L L Bean website (https://www.llbean.com). Click on Stores along the top heading, then click on Hunting and Fishing Store, click on Event Calendar, and sign up for one, some, or all of our classes for Fly Tying instruction. We think you will have some fun, and enjoy he company of some good fly tying friends.

…and the off-site Fly Tying: Come on out for some Craft Beer and Craft a Fly with us at Bissell Brothers Brewing Company in Portland on November 7th and then up at Baxter Brewing Company in Lewiston on December 18th.
