I have a friend looking for a 6wt rod, reasonably priced. This St Croix seems to be a decent rod for the money.
Does anyone have this rod or a rod at around $250-300 that they would recommend.

I'm actually considering selling mine (St Croix Imperial - Made in USA). 9' 6wt - 4 piece. It's a few years old but hasn't been used much (less than 12 times I'd guess). It's in great condition.

Orvis clearwater, TFO BVK, Fenwick Aetos all are excellent rods in that price range or under. Look at the Yellowstone 6wt.shootout on line. But the biggest thing is to go and try them out! Your feel of the rod and casting stoke is what is the most important. Cabelas, Trident fly fishing , and Orvis flyshops in maine all have them!
