Last week I was fishing a spot a mile or so down from long falls dam from the loop road side. I fish here at least once every year. There is a launch area on the Dead River Road side that I thought was private with no access, but this year there was a Lund parked there as well as a trailer with 8-10 canoes. There are also now two wires going all the way across the river. Does anybody know what's going on down there? Outward Bound maybe? Or is that road now open to the public? The best part of that section of river has always been I usually have it to myself.

I am interested in hearing a knowledgeable reply to this. My understanding: I used to float that section and take out at the gravel slope you are describing. Every spring the white trash would camp there and leave 1,000 beer cans and all of the dirty diapers on the ground. It was really sad!

When the Maine Huts and Trails began operating in that area, the gate at LFD Road was closed and locked (I get it).
What you may have witnessed was a Maine Huts and Trails operation, but I really have no idea for certain.
