Took a ride North Saturday against my better judgment. Loaded my pontoon and packed for the night. I had thoughts of slinging Buggers and Dragon fly nymphs and had just the pond in mind....but it was not to be. Turned out the high for the day was 54 degrees, downright crappy with wind and rain did not even unload my boat . Still snow on the road edges and ponds, I think it will still be at least another week or longer ( me thinks longer) for the area I was in to really turn on, Or at least some prolonged sun to start warming the shallows and get things moving. Saw one moose and the sides of the dirt roads were lined with coltsfoot.. kind of like home 3weeks ago

Bummer. Valiant effort though. The pictures help bring home the reality. In my mind, this is what I imagine...

You had the right idea. Some sun and 55 degrees and you would have been in business. I'm going to turn the water on at camp tomorrow. Should have no problems freezing now

Nice choice of vehicle! My FJ is approaching 282,000 miles and is a lot more "broken in" than yours. :D They are tougher than a bag of hammers...original engine, transmission, and exhaust on mine still running strong.

I was in the same area, though by the looks of it, a bit lower in elevation than you were. We saw a lot less snow, but there was a little.

We managed a few small fish in a pond I've not fished for a long time. We did see a few rise, but didn't see any bugs on the water.

Ahh Yes spring in Maine..
You never know what to expect from year to year. We are getting a good dose of water in the big rivers, something that we have not had in a few at years at this time. My brother and I have spent the past probly 4 years on the same stretch of the Kenny on this Holiday weekend good wade and rising trout, not this year. I will be curious to here the reports from up north after the weekend, This season I plan on doing more pond fishing, last season was great I just started to late with only a few trips in. As for the FJ R-Factor its my second and neither have ever let me down :!:
