Just finished “Flyboys: A True Story of Courage” by James Bradley. Nothing like the silly movie of the same name and seriously not for the squeamish. Opened my eyes to more than a few things about the Pacific in WWII.

Just this morning, I started reading a book I’ve had for over 20 years and carried around in my various vehicles faithfully. “Hatch Guide for New England Streams” is a book I only ever used as a visual comparison/reference guide. But damn, I started actually reading it and it turns out to be a fascinating read. Maybe because it’s February and it helps to imagine things like hatches and rise forms. I feel a little foolish for never having read it before.

P.S. Somone mentioned Ray Stout. I didn’t realize he passed. RIP Ray.

Tim,
Be careful where you set that book down. Not cheap to replace.

Whoa. Can that be true? Mine is the spiral bound, small paperback edition. Still has some of the sticker on it.... $19.95.

I still have my hard copy, and I sure as all get-out didn’t pay $262 for it. I think I paid $20; but wouldn’t swear as to the veracity of that statement.

It was sad to have Ray Stout pass. He was another tough Marine who fought against the Big A dam. One hell of a fisherman and a great guy.
