I'm going to break practice and put these back in my vest even though I carried them throughout the season without using them.
Any of you use them?


Edited to add - I'm more apt to throw the tippet rings away and use the snap swivel at the end of a wire bite guard when fishing Pickerel in August

Negative.... not even on saltwater gear... though I would love to know what Orvis charges for one set vs. the ones I get from Barlow tackle ($2.50 for 50).

For anyone who likes jig hooks, Barlow also has mustards thst i like.

The swivel, no.

As for the tippet ring, I guess you could say that I used them while I was going through my furled/braided leader phase. There was a ring built into them and I have to admit, it was pretty handy. But using the tippet rings on their own for rigging? Nope.

Tippet rings.....used them on my furled leaders for years. Pretty much a requirement.

Although I don't recall I might have used a swivel when I did spring trolling decades ago.

I use small black barrel swivels on all of my trolling gear. I’ve thrown too much line out over the years after it got all twisted up to not have learned a lesson. I put barrel swivels on anything that’s going to be pulled around for a while without being cast to let the line untwist. I don’t use them on fly gear in Maine, though have used them on salmon rods in Alaska and the Maritimes.

No, but over the years my standard AK set up has become an Airflo poly leader, 5’ to a barrel swivel, 2’ of 0X to a Rio fly clip, fly. No need to change, unless a break off. Which will happen!

You're getting break offs on 2X. What are you hooking? I've towed my canoe on 2X!!

A hot 12 lb Coho can do it pretty easily. I’ve had lots straighten really strong hooks. Like a ‘freight train’ is not an exaggeration! And, the 0X is rated at 15 lbs. If you survevive the first couple of minutes, your odds of landing increase dramatically!

I've been using them for a few years. Replacing tippet is easy and the fish don't seem to mind them. I also use a micro swivel when throwing big flies, avoids twisted leaders most of the time.

I just started using them for Czech nymphing. I have also used the swivels for spey and streamer fishing.

I need to get some of the fly clips for ice fishing. Be a lot easier changing jigs than cinch knots. Especially the fact that for almost 40 years been tyeing on regular hooks. Throw in a jig with the eye parallel to the shank and having the wrong glasses and a I was totally flummoxed. Maybe need some clics glasses.

Ditto on tying on jig hooks and I have only been at it for 15 years or so. I found some mustad ones that have a flat eye, 60 degree bend... i’ll Let you know when they arrive.
