Just a heads up...last Sunday the heating pipes in the gym blew and dropped thousands of gallons of water onto the gym floor. It took hours to find the shutoff valve, and the floor is destroyed (as is the subfloor). There are huge cut out holes in the remains to allow for removal of the water, but the floor is pooched. In a burst of common sense, the school dept. and the insurance people had made a quick choice to replace the entire floor after removal of the now old floor....which is predicted to take 6 weeks....but we all know all timelines are fuzzy, and there will be time slippage....the High School gym may-MAY be an option, but these gyms are booked months-and sometimes years (always the same weekend year after year) in advance.

So... what the future holds I do not know, but the Robotics team is working on finding a spot for their fund raiser (which is what SuperBoo IS for the school)- and another spot or time for our SuperBoo. I expect Kat will know before me, but I think she is in sunny Michigan...and we will keep you posted as information appears.

Uggh. Sorry to hear of the unintended casting pond installation. Hopefully it will all work out. Thank you for the update.

Part of an e-mail thread Kat and I are part of.... ( the David involved is the A.D. at Lawrence)

"
Just spoke to David--- first, it will take a minimum of 6 weeks to just fix the floor, but first they have to fix the heating system. The coils for this system are made in Tenn. and will take an unknown amount of time to deliver/make. Best estimate is months from now. As for the High School gym--- all use of the 2 gyms will now go into that one gym, and the feeling is that school sports (High and Junior High) will have first dibs on the gyms---and David doesn't feel safe in booking us into the gym this year.

So, unless we have a connection to the newer gym at Hinckley...I think we are sunk.

Hutch "

Things are not totally decided, but I think we all need to see the possibilities.

If those were coils for a "still" they'd be done overnite. I done used to watch the Moonshiners. And their coil building skills were top notch.

This all would be a truly sad day if this tradition was interrupted.
