Yesterday I took advantage of the warm weather & moderating stream flows to do some fishing on my favorite stretch of a mid coast stream - water was still high & fast but it was relatively clear & definitely fishable - I was a little surprised to see that the fish hadn't been washed away during the last several weeks of high, cold water - I ended up landing a pair of well worn brookies & losing another - they all fell for a glass bead head, soft hackle flymph kind of fly - I don't think fly choice mattered as much as 2 other factors: figuring out where the fish were taking refuge from the high water and getting down low & slow - I encountered a nice young fella on the stream, which is rare for this stretch - he didn't have any luck & I sure hope he didn't witness my mid-stream rendition of Santana's "She's not there" as he approached me...next Saturday looks to be a bit cooler but still do-able - hopefully, I have a few good stories to tell at the FFIM Festivus afterward - Tight Lines!
