Reminds me of a morning this summer. On the way to camp we stoped in Freeport and my son (5yr) insisted that we go to Orvis, and the only thing he wanted was a chartreuse clouser... even though I insisted his spinning rod would never cast it.

The next morning we threw every lure and jig we had at them. Nothing. After much fighting I begrudgingly tied the clouser on, he cast it all of 10’... I swear the fish was on it before it even hit the water. Unfortunately he missed the hook set, but it didn’t matter..... he did it even when dad couldn’t... and it was ALL him.

This story and mine are both good reminders that anyone can catch a fish or not catch any fish, but if they show some interest let them run.

"Fishermen...spending their lives in the fields and woods...are often in a more favorable mood for observing her, in the intervals of their pursuits, than philosophers or poets even, who approach her with expectation." - Thoreau
