A few days ago, I reposted a press release from IFW about "Strategies To Enhance Protections For Brook Trout and Arctic Charr While Preserving Traditional Fishing Methods And Fishing Economies".

There are more details in a report that was sent to the Legislature's IFW Committee last week, and the Department just added that report to their website.

A lot of thought and work by DIFW and by the members of the Heritage Fish Working Group have gone into this, and lot more thought and work will be needed before new policies get put in place. I think this is a very important initiative by the Department.

Details here. https://www.maine.gov/ifw/docs/Final%20Progress%20Report%20F-W%20Legislative%20Committee%20LD%201236%209-27-18.pdf

There is a LOT of good information in this package. Kudos to the Department and Heritage Fish group for pulling this together.
