Last Saturday I headed up north to my favorite trout stream to end the season - it was my first bit of trout fishing in Maine since early June, so it was long overdue & much appreciated - even though the stream was as low as I've ever seen it in September and it's getting loved to death, mostly by commercial interests, it was a completely satisfying day. After 3.5 months of fishing with my "big game" outfit, fishing with my little 3 wt outfit was like casting with a feather - a real pleasure...I made a conscious effort to soak up as much of the color and the feel of the wild trout as I could, painfully aware that it would be a while before things got that good again - good news is that in just 80 short days, the days will start getting longer again - like Dave M said, time to get out there and enjoy it while you can - Tight Lines!

Looks like a great place to be right now. Too bad it is getting used harder. |

Nice Cubby - that looks like "Downeast haiku" Hopefully it's not too long before we can trade lies again... Like the man said,"Autumn is the year's last, loveliest smile" Tight lines, all! |
