Today's storms look like the start of a stormy pattern stretching into early August. Bad for many outdoor activities...but good for our rivers! We haven't had a good summer priming in years.

Rain is good. Rain and some cold nights would be better!

Storms made for an interesting flight back from Chicago last night/early this morning. And fog made for an interesting drive home after. Hopefully we get socked with some rain.

I'm hoping the rain hits pretty good this week.... I'm heading to The County for the weekend and am bringing along a rod and some dry flies... and a thermometer. If temps are good I've got time for some early AM action.

Last night is just what the doctor ordered - good dump of rain and temps dropped last night - 60 and crisp, clean air this AM!

We need more of that. Unless it’s a fast rain event, after it’s been dry for a bit the first 1/2” to 3/4” of rain gets sucked up by vegetation.

Quite a contrast from south to north. Anywhere from 2" rainfall deficit to 3" surplus, S to N, year to date.

I agree. let it rain , rain , rain. man do we need it. most of the mountain streams and rivers are awfully low. A good recharge of the pump will help things. ( about 2 to 3 inches of rain falling through 60 degree air could make things pretty interesting through the stretch run here towards Fall :D) Still to this day some of the best fishing I ever had on the Kenny was late August after a good pulse of cold rain. BIG BROWNS feeding aggressively on the surface at midday.

Long range forecast looks promising. Hopefully it holds true. It's been years since I've done any stream fishing during late August early September in southern Maine. Rivers have been just too low and warm. Better start tying some flies for that early run of sebago salmon.

Hiked in Evans notch this afternoon - Wild is BONEY. Yesterday/last night helped but we need WAY more; just not all at once please! Pics/footage from central MA were pretty incredible. I guess it needed a good "scrubbing" anyway
