Tying Caddis Emergers looking for the holy grail. The search for the magic fly for the Eddy at 8:45 pm continues, entering the 25th + year now. Well last night I tired 19 emergers, yeah 19 bit$hes, cause that's how many hooks I dumped on the desk. I pick up hooks with my snippers and wondered how many tiers take the time to magnetize their scissors. Makes grabbing a hook simple. How many tiers sharpen the butt end of their whip finisher to use as a thread cutter??

I don’t technically magnetize my scissors per say, but they have enough magnetism in them to pullout hooks. Also a pair of hemostats is the same way. After watching Craig Mathews tying videos and he uses a whip finisher with a cutting edge I purchased one from BRF. Still sometimes muscle memory and/ or senility and I still grab my scissors to nip the finished head.

No. I now try to stay away during this very busy week/weekend. Used to spent every 3rd week there but it gets too crowded. I'll go up a week from now and spend 8-10 days. Bail out just before the 4th. The fish are still there for the most part.
