I got this message from Gayland Hachey a few days ago:

To anyone that is a Veazie Salmon Club Member we have shut down all of the utilities to the club and Claude Westfall is taking all of the club pictures and memorabilia down to the Atlantic Salmon Museum. This is all do to the lack of members and funding when the funds run out this fall we will have to let the club go to the town for back taxes..Gayland Hachey

Another big chunk of tradition and history going down the tubes - it's hard to imagine that the other clubs aren't far behind...

That's really too bad, end of an era.

I spent quite a few nice days there in the early 80’s to early 90’sbefore heading down to fish Wringer Pool. This is too bad.

Although I never fished for the salmon there, I just hate seeing this type of history become, well, history.....

This is great news. I think I’ll join again. I’ve never fished for Shad......I hear they’re a hoot. Good news!

Can you fish above the Eddington Bend to the old Veazie Dam site?

From the DIFW lawbook:

General fishing laws apply, except: Open to open water and ice fishing from January 1 - December 31. That area within 150 feet of any part of the West Enfield Dam, including fishway: Closed to fishing at all times. From October 1 - December 31: ALO, S-7. (See Piscataquis River - Howland Dam Bypass).

The following areas are closed to fishing for all species from July 1 - September 30, both days inclusive:

The Penobscot River on the easterly side of a straight line drawn from a red painted rock situated on the downriver side of the mouth of Felts Brook to a red painted marker on the Bangor Dam fishway situated on the upriver side of the mouth of Felts Brook. (Marine Resources Rule).

The Penobscot River within 250 feet of a red painted marker situated on the downriver side of the mouth of Eaton Brook. (Marine Resources Rule).

The Penobscot River within a 250 foot radius of the Maine Central Railroad Bridge abutments at the mouth of Meadow Brook (Marine Resources Rule).

The Penobscot River within 500 feet of a red painted marker situated on the downriver side of the mouth of Blackman Stream.

The Penobscot River within 500 feet of a red painted marker situated on the downriver side of the mouth of Great Works Stream.

(Below Lincoln: 1-2 fish meals a month. See Fish Consumption Advisories).
