Who is planning on doing some fishing on the opener?
I am probably going to post hole my way to the river and get some practice in  Last year my friend called and asked if I would like to hook up on the river when it opened up last season. We had quite a bit of snow so I decided to not go....Later that day he sent me a picture of nice 18" brown he caught swinging a streamer.

I'm planning on it, but not sure where yet. I had dreams of heading up to GLS for the opener, but got an invite to Easter dinner at my parents place in central Maine the other day- so will likely stay further south and head to dinner around lunch. I have no expectations of catching a fish.

GLS...even running at 865 CFS... We plan on working around camp and meeting a crowd of social fishers Sunday. Not all that worried about landing fish that first day- Wish the lake were open of ice...

I too am having dinner relatively close to your Central Maine location.... take your gear with you. My phone number is still the same.

Opening day & Easter are a definite conflict for me - to deal with it I'm going fishing the day before and the day after - I'll hit a mid coast spot or 2 on Saturday and then head to GLS on Monday to hopefully pick up some crumbs, then head off to fish a couple of other spots and do some scouting - conditions are as good as they get at this time of year - now is the perfect time for anything to happen - Tight Lines!

I know I’m getting old and curmudgeonly. I’m going to be sitting down to have Easter dinner with my family, and not even think about “ opening day”.

My personal opening day is usually sometime in the third or fourth week of April.......and I really start getting serious about Fishing long about May 10th or so.

I, too, used to be one of the ones getting out on April 1st........ But bringing in a LL or two fighting like a boot because they’re so cold just doesn’t do it for me any more. You guys go out and have fun......I’ll wait for the weather to warm up.......the flowers to bloom.......and the Hendrickson’s to start popping.

I'm going swinging in tidewater to see what I can find. Maybe hit another local hot spot on Sunday ( local now meaning southern Maine).

Spent a few hours Sunday fishing a few of my favorite salter streams, levels good snow pack is not too bad at least along the streams but still piles along roadsides. Its always interesting getting to the water this time of year one place up two my armpits in a heater bank, another rolling down a snow covered embankment  I had no luck but conditions are looking good. Two of the streams the temps were 38 and 39 degrees.

Raging waters on the LA at Welchville, and the fish were still in hibernation. Same for the Crooked @ twin bridges. LA was dirty, CR was crystal clear.
I passed on snowboarding to go fishing. According to my wife and kids, the mtn was a much better choice. The corn harvest has arrived.

I spent the 1st half of my opener on a popular midcoast river on Saturday - it had come up a lot during the week and even a bit during the day so by afternoon it was borderline blown out & freezing - I got skunked there...
The second half of my opener happened yesterday - I headed downeast & scouted & fished 4 coastal streams - I had luck at 2 streams - all brookies - I saw some nice new water, was able to cross a few prospects off my list, met an entertaining beaver trapper and generally had a fine day - I ended the day at Grand Lake Stream and fishless, but I shared the last moments of my fishing day with a nice young gentleman then headed home thinking, as far as I'm concerned, if I'm outdoors and fishing, it's impossible to be wasting my time - good luck this season!

You've got to love the colors on those Downeast dark water brookies. Nice work Brian.
