In Ellsworth Tonite! I wish I could make it - this would be a perfect opportunity for a certain FFIM ambassador or 2, to show up, maybe help out and do some networking...The DSF's Heather Andrews will have a table at our F3T event in Brunswick in March, to talk about all the great stuff they're doing, not only in East Machias, but all along the Sunrise Coast - cheers!

Hops and Hoppers (Fly Tying 101) at Airline Brewing Co. Pub TONIGHT!
Monday, January 29th
Airline Brewing Co. Pub
173 Main Street, Ellsworth

Led by skilled fly tyer and DSF board member Joe Horn. Learn the art of fly tying or, if you're already a skilled fly tyer, come tie a fly or two and maybe give a newbie a few pointers in the process. We'll share fishing stories, drink some delicious brews from Airline Brewing Co., and tell you about the fisheries and river restoration work going on here in Downeast Maine! $5 suggested donation. Facebook users can follow the event HERE.

Ice Fishing and Winter Fun on Chalk Pond

Saturday, February 17th
12:30pm - 3:30pm
Chalk Pond
Rt. 193 Beddington by Rt. 9

Embrace the season with the Downeast Salmon Federation for an afternoon out on the ice!

DSF has protected 2,400 feet of frontage around the southern end of Chalk Pond on the Narraguagus River. This land that was donated by the Furbush family is part of a campaign to conserve 35 miles of river frontage on our Downeast rivers, ensuring public access for future generations and helping protect and restore habitat for Atlantic salmon and other sea-run fish, including brook trout.

Join us for a day of ice fishing, skiing, bird watching, and other winter fun out on Chalk Pond. DSF will provide a warming fire, hot dogs, and smoked fish as well as some volunteers to help those new to ice fishing.

The Airline Snack Bar--Route 9 just before the intersection with 193 in Beddington--will act as a meeting spot for those unfamiliar with the area. DSF volunteers will meet at the snack bar at 12:30 pm to guide people to the pond.

The pond is accessible off of Route 193 in Beddington just before the Route 9 intersection.

As a 501c3 nonprofit, we rely on donations from our members to improve river ecology, restore Atlantic salmon populations, increase fish passage, run educational programs, and advocate for the environmental health of our rivers and communities. Your gift is fully tax-deductible. We appreciate your support!
