Got to camp tonight and while shoveling the deck off I found a perfectly intact frozen hawk. Guessing it flew into the gable end windows. I hate to just toss it into the woods. What should I do with it ?

That’s bummer, especially with the birds if prey that I consider pretty noble. My folks had a similar situation with an owl, we think it got zapped on a power line. I called F&G and they said to bury it. I suggested taxidermy for flies and they confirmed it is totally illegal.

It happened to me once. I put it out alongside the road for the ravens to find. Worked.

Audubon or a local nature center might be interested in the carcass for a study skin. I believe some of them have the right permits to possess these.
