After reading Dave M's post on tying influences. Plus the frigid temps and a almost completely frozen river I watched tying videos, tied and watched football this weekend.
I started with some Biothread Caddis Larvae. Then on to some Blue Ribbon Flies patterns some Opal Midges, and some Grifffiths Gnat Emergers.
Now all I need is some open water and the time to fish it. The last two week-ends are the Marlbough and NJ FlyFishing Shows followed by SuperBoo the first week-end in Feb. Hmmm, only one weekend open in the next 4.
Anybody else tie anything this past cold spell.

Ron

Between work, planning a wedding, buying land and planning for a new house- I haven't had much time to spend at the vise lately. However, I did spend a bit of time at the vise Sunday morning tying up a batch of Brammer's "Keeled Jerks" for the toothy critters next spring. Simple pattern, and it appears mostly weedless. We'll see how they swim in the spring.

Sure.

Harrop Short Wing Emegers in PMD. (18’s and 20’s)
Thread Midges in Red and Cream (#24)
Quigley Cripple PMD’s in 18’s and 20’s.......but with a CDC Wing instead of deer hair

Starting today on a box of dries for Super Boo. I’m thinking half Sparkle Duns and half Caddis.......but who knows what inspiration I’ll get when I sit down at the vise.

Been cranking out nymphs. I’m trying hard to tie only flies that I know I will fish. I’m tying them in batches of a dozen. I have most of this list done and will be moving on to emergers.
