We have a good friend on our Western Trips every year that hooks himself.......once within 20 minutes he did it twice. I’ve used that hook removal method for years, and it really does work.
As the guy in the video said......and he’s 100% correct.....the two keys are to push that eye of the hook down firmly, and yank that sucker out.
Of course, using barbless hooks makes the entire process a helluva lot easier, but this method works slick as snot with barbed hooks.

I used this technique on my clients for years, with one additional step....I would tell the client what I was going to do, and that I would yank out the hook on "three". I'd start counting "one"...."two".....you can guess where this is going.....I'd always yank the hook on "two"....worked every time too.
