Any tips on places to stay? Or places to avoid?

If you're going with a group, you may want to consider renting a DSR house. I've stayed in most of them and they're clean, convenient, and reasonable in price for what you get.

If not in a group and wanting something a little more upscale, I've heard good things about this place.

We stayed at the Days Inn in Brewerton, a half hour ride from Pulaski. It was the second week of Oct for $62 per night.

Titleguy just got back from there and stayed at Tailwater. He liked it. I've only stayed at Whitakers- which is nothing special. The DSR option does get you a DSR pass and access to water before the DSR gate opens in the AM.

Thanks folks. My two sons are heading there today and looking for something reasonable. Being the concerned dad, I mostly want to steer them away from any place not worth staying at.

Tailwater was terrific, but about $100.00 per night ( includes good breakfast and access to river left of Schoolhouse Pool). Whitaker's is still cheap I am sure and tolerable.... Midweek will be much less crowded, but it is still a shite show.

Unless something has changed, early access to DSR isn’t much of a perk. When it sells out during salmon season, I usually had the place to myself during steelhead season.

I think Whitakers should be perfect for them. This is more of a scouting mission than anything. They are self employed carpenters with a week to kill between projects. The water flow is high and the temps low, so that should cut down on the shite show.
Thanks for your imput
