To a new Lab. New Lab pup has joined my daughter's household (and mine). Bauer (My grandson is a hockey player) is an 8 week old pup. I will be puppy sitting/walking/training etc. As we all live in our two family we'll spend lots of time together.

What a beauty! For most of our lives together, my wife and I have had several yellow Labs...Labs are so smart; they have trained us!

Labs are impossible for the first 18 months. Then they become the greatest dogs ever

Congrats.

A coworker turned me on to Ziwi brand mackerel and lamb flavored dog food as a training aid for my English springer. I jokingly refer to it as crack for dogs. Mine goes nuts for the stuff, making it a great training aid.

That's a great lookin pup.
We're on the verge of dog ownership again. I love dogs, labs in particular, but I wasn't ready for the extra responsibility after having been dog free for six years. I find quite a few major negatives in dog ownership. The biggest being their short lives. You get so attached and it's a 10-15 Yr guaranteed heartbreak.
But my daughter is such a great kid and has been clamoring for a puppy long enough. She deserves one, so here we go. Black lab/hound mix rescue pup.
My last chocolate lab was a male and became a biter. This one is also male, so my fingers are crossed on the temperament.
I would also be interested in food recommendations along the lines of Hunter's. Have to check that one out.

George Carlin, possibly the greatest comedian we've known (RIP) said it best.
"Life.....is a series of dogs." Great bit.

OMG. it's like a tiny tornado has been let loose. My poor daughter was up all night, he's just like a new baby. Never was crate trained so he's not taking to that quietly.

Big advantage we have is my daughter works full-time from home so she can attempt to deal with him although taking phone calls is tough.

[oh yeah ,,take them to puppy kindergarten ..it really helps ] i have raised goldens and newfoundlands for over 30 years and have been around the block a few times
