waiting for my brothers report from the Roach this weekend. I cant believe how warm it is. Speaking of the hunters I did a quick walk in the woods today to check on some bowhunting hotspots. There were rocks "sweating" in the humidity. I cant believe how warm it is!! no real rain in sight either.

Drove over the presumpscot and crooked rivers in my travels today, boy they are something low. Salmon in the lake are getting dark, jaws look ready, and fish look good after recently feasting on YOY smelt.

Presumpscot will be raging when they do their fall draw-down. The Crooked, on the other hand, will need a serious (ie. 3-4 inches of rain) dousing before the fish will begin to move. And the short term outlook ain't too good.....

I see a hay baler parked near the Medomak this evening. Not sure if he was going to bale the weeds in the river or the field near-by. Wasn't but a trickle.

What is said about the Crooked is true, and other rivers in the Oxford Hills. But things are not nearly as bad as last year or the previous year with levels. A good barometer is this stream which flows out of a spring-fed swamp behind our house. It drains into Long Lake. When things are excessively dry, this stream dries up. This morning it's flowing fairly well, which shows how the springs are contributing even as we are two weeks without a significant drop from the sky. That being said, you have to search long and hard to find a good fish, there just has not been any kind of legitimate run yet.

Oh man, you know it's HOT when you are working for people from south Florida, and they say wow this is hot
I was glad last night that I hadn't yet removed our bedroom window ac unit. Wouldn't have slept without it cranking.
