Prices down here are hitting $2.60 or so and about the same in northern Maine. Gonna cost a bit more to fish this fall. Damn Obama.

I saw $2.75 at a pump yesterday. Hurricane Harvey **** down a couple of refineries, but I'm hearing they should be back on line and gas prices are supposed to drop before the end of the month. Not sure where this will leave heating oil prices this winter though- as a few of the refineries usually start switching over to heating oil production after Labor Day.

Heating oil has been coming in steadily to both Searsport, Bucksport and Portland since mid summer. There is plenty on hand already and most of ours comes from St. John on Irving tankers so we are not affected by the shutdowns in the Gulf. That doesn't mean the price won't spike since it is a commodity that is traded on the open market .

Well I wouldn't go quite that far but for sure it's classic Capitalism my boy, capitalism. Simple supply and demand laws apply. Fortunately it works both ways and we benefit on the other end.

A lesson learned everytime time you hear "you can't always get what you want, but if you try some times... you get what you need".

The Rolling Stones commentary on scarcity of demand.

I still marvel at the amount of global economics falls back on the simple principals of Macro/Micro Economics 101. I actually just dropped a note to my Freshman Econ Prof, about that exact topic. It is the only text book that I keep in my office to this day, and open monthlynor so.

this has happened before and will happen again, that being said my next vehicle will get significantly better mileage ...you can get a smaller AWD wagon that gets over 30mpg with regular....I don't need a truck...go alone most of the time so its time to scale down...and spend more $ on more fishing trips

Prices dropped 15 cents from yesterday at my local Irving station. $2.69 down to $2.54.

Went back and forth to Bethel twice this weekend. Saw 2.74 on my return last night.
