I will be doing a road trip with my wife and in-laws, August 26 - September 1, traveling north bound from Anchorage Alaska to Fairbanks. I have a guided trip set up for the day I am in Talkeetna. I am the only one in the group that is into fly fishing, so I will be looking for some roadside opportunities not far from Route 3.

Anyone out there done the trip or know someone who is comfortable sharing information. Please do not hesitate to message me.

I am reaching out to fly shops and guides in the area, but I do not seem to be having a lot of luck. Also, any internet sites that my be helpful?

Thanks,

- ZG -

Never been but plan to DiY at some point. Here are a few books I've been steered to.

I just saw your post. I spent 30 years up there. I was going to mention the Highway Angler. I have one that i found invaluable. During your trip, keep your 3 weight handy. Almost every stream that you'll drive across will have Graylings. Love those guys. Have lots of Griffins Gnats on hand.

If you are planning to return to Anchorage on the Richardson Highway, you need to take a detour onto the Denali Highway and drive to the Tangle River. Great great Grayling fishing.

I forgot to ask if were you planning to visit the Kenai Peninsula? Fantastic opportunities for rainbows and Grayling. If you are, let me know. I have some connections for a guide.

Good luck and tight lines

Russ
