All........

When things come together fly fishing can be just a beautiful thing.

Yesterday was one of those truly magical days that happen so infrequently in our sport.

The weather was perfect......mixed clouds, sun, and rain.

The Hendricksons and Cornutas came off exactly when, and how, they were supposed to.

The water temp was a perfect 54*.

The water level was great for floating and wading.

Mostly it was Landlocks that came out to play.....and they were jumping fools.

Only took one small Brookie on a streamer, and one decent LL on that same streamer before the hatch.

Every one of the other Browns (Big Brown) and LLs were taken on dries. Almost all on a #14 BWO Sparkle Dun. Man, that's a wonderful fly. That deer hair wing sits up there large and proud, and they float like proverbial corks.

I'm not going to tell how man we caught......as that would sound like bragging. Let's just say the 4 weight B3X got a hell of a workout......and that almost 40 year old Hady LRH was just singing it's wonderful song. I probably won't have another day like that this year......it was that good......but I'll think about yesterday this coming winter during a blizzard drinking my coffee and tying more Sparkle Duns......and just grin from ear to ear......what my Buddies call "Dave's ####eating grin".

Get out there if you can......it's happening right now.

Dave M

PS: I know many ffers like the month of May, but, at least for me, June is 10X better for flyfishing than May ever thought of being.

Titleguy and I floated a segment of river downstream from you yesterday. I felt we were still on the early end of things- as the hatches were light, but a few nice browns looked up and took dry flies, as they should this time of year. Perhaps we're actually post-peak on that downriver segment- as it sound like you had a much better numbers day than us, but overall- the experience sounds about the same. Great day on the water overall. I'll be back one evening this week (I hope).

And- btw- the beaver has a new friend. There's a GOAT loose along the river, eating all of the invasive plants along the riverbank.

I'll second that it is happening now. Had a day yesterday as good as I have ever had on Landlocks. Conservatively 30 hookups with around 20 in the net On a river at 530AM Left the river at 1130 AM and the water was still alive with fish and caddisflies. I am sure that wherever you head right now for the next couple of weeks it will be prime time. Have fun all. No spot burning here other than it was great fishing for Landlocks in a river in Maine

And I hope they do. It'll take the pressure off fisheries somewhere else.
