Our friends at FFIM are starting a new feature "Fly of the month". It will be a "sticky", always available on the opening page, I will include a pattern from one of my classes every month and I'd encourage all of the great tyers out there to contribute. One thing I would ask is that there be no "secrets", if you post a picture of a fly it must be tied by you and must include all the materials used. You should also be prepared to help anyone with questions about the fly. This should be a lot of fun. Terry

Sounds like a great feature.
Nice looking fly Terry. I think I can find a spot for that pattern in my boxes. Many possibilities of slight color variations(biots).

I like that a lot, and as a big biot enthusiast, I just found the natural ones and like them a lot.

Tiers: I'll work on making a place on the forum for this, in the meantime, let me know if you want to post a pattern and we'll make it a regular feature. As Terry mentioned, tied by you, and let's try to keep this original and a pattern you have success with in Maine. Copper Midge

Hook: 16-20 grub
Thread: uni 6/0 black
Bead: small or midge root beer glass
Gills: white maribou
Body: small uni copper mylar
Rib: tying thread
Coat fly with uv resin or clear nail polish

This has been a good winter/early spring pattern for me.

I caught six brookies on this fly yesterday. The gills may be more for me than the fish. I caught 4 of the trout yesterday on one without gills.

Hi Tim, I've got to give that fly of yours a swim, the collar on the PT is a colored metal collar, same as colored beads, but a collar shape. I was using floss for the hot spots but they got pretty beat up after a couple of fish. I sell the collars in different sizes and colors. Terry

The collars worked well. I am pleased!

I already have another list of items I need.
