I got to take a "American Vacation" last week, which included 3 days in Northern NJ for business, where i ate and drank my fill of all the dark beer, burgers, pizza, wings and subs that a guy could get his hands on... after a glutinous visit, and a little work, I headed to meet my folks at their camp in the Berkshires. Again, feasted on all of the stuff mom knew I missed. Without 3 kids, a dog and wife, my parents and i exhausted most of our conversation topics in the first couple hours, and i found myself paddling, walking and napping to keep the blissful boredom at bay.

The rock bass and pan fish are all nesting, and the 5 hulapoppers and a 5wt that i managed to fit into my bags did the trick. Nothing big, but the action was constant, and I replentished a little Vitamin D while getting reports from my wife that the Seine has breached its walls... fortunately we are on high ground, although closer than comfortable to the river. Even my mom got into the mix, with a 20' cast, and teased a sunfish to hand.
