Originating from Moosehead Lake and the Moose River, the Kennebec River flows for 230 miles until it flows into Merrymeeting Bay.

Before dams were built along the river, there were bountiful anadromous fish on Maine's coast. Atlantic salmon, alewives, shad, sturgeon and striped bass all swarmed far upstream up the Kennebec River to spawning grounds.

Paul M Christman, a marine scientist with the Maine Department of Marine Resources, will present the newest work on restoring salmon in the Kennebec River. Many new techniques have been developed including planting salmon eggs in the gravel of the river and its tributaries. You won't want to miss Paul's informative talk.

Please join Somerset Woods Trustees at the beautiful Margaret Chase Smith Library Monday evening, April 4th, at 6:30 PM. Refreshments will be served!
