Sure, there might have been some birds in some other oil, but that slick sitting right there isn't doing any harm, so don't worry about it. <BR> <BR>Logically, that's the same argument you're making about lead--if you can't acutally see any adverse effect right now, it must be safe. By now we ought to have enough experience (DDT, mercury, lead gas and paint, etc.) to know better. <BR> <BR>The enforcement issue has come up before when this issue was debated several years ago. One of the posters here went to hardware store, and as I recall, for about $10 he got a "Lead Test Kit" designed to test plumbing fixtures for lead. You put a drop of some kind of indicator on the metal, and if it turned color it was lead. He tried it on his flies and said it was easy to tell the leaded from the unleaded. <BR> <BR>The place to control lead is in the store, not the field. Once it becomes illegal to sell lead fishing weights, it will phase out of use quite quickly. <BR> <BR>Jeff <BR> <BR>
