Today with the less than pleasant weather I opted out of fishing and drove to Fairfield for my last visit to Fly Fishing Only.

I knew that the stock would be diminished but it was more of a good-by than a shopping spree. I did have one item in mind though. I was looking for some Australian possum dyed orange to tie up some Fran Betters Bombers. I didn't see any on his racks so I asked Mike what would work as a substitute. He asked what I was tying and when I told him he replied, "If you have a minute I'll run to my house and get you some. He said he had a sizable stash. Almost as fast as St. Nick himself Mike was back with the real deal. Fran Betters dyed possum. Now is that cool or what. A part of history and he was willing to share. Actually a part of history on two accounts Fran Betters and Mike and Linda.

Mike, A last note concerning the John Barr book. You said I would enjoy it. Now if I'd thumbed through it before leaving the shop I could have lightened your inventory on a couple of more items I saw that I could have used for patterns that caught my eye.

Good luck on your retirement and Thank You.

Ron R.

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of something that is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.
